Lora, 2 year old fem Lab Cross, Gorgeous Girl, Wonderful Character Fostered in Staffs

Lora – Beautiful 2 year old Lab cross looking for a home

This young lady is just gorgeous, she is loving, loyal and just adores human company. Is great with other dogs and also good with dog savvy cats.

This sweet young girl is desperate for a home. Rescued from a horrific killing station in the Balkans she is now safe in foster in Staffordshire.

Her foster carer says
“Lora is just a wonderful dog to foster, very easy going, is playful with the other dogs here. She is clean in the house and is such a clever girl. I think she would be perfect for agilty as she is loves to learn new things, is not as large as a full breed lab, is very agile.

We have a foster cat here called Gizmo and within seconds Lora was put in her place by the cat herself. With Lora I think as long as she knows her boundaries fro the outset there really will be no problems.

She really will make the most wonderful companion /new family member to any home.”

Lora is:
Sterilised
Microchipped
Fully Vaccinated (Inc anti rabies)
Dewormed
Deflead
Vet Checked
DEFRA compliant
Has very own full EU Pet passport

If you could offer this wonderful young dog a forever home where she will only ever know love and care, where she will give back as much love as you give to her please contact our charity as soon as possible.

Pasha - Beautiful 8 Year old full breed Bischon Freese for adoption

Pasha - 8 year old Bischon Fem looking for a home

This sweet little dog was neglected by her previous owner along with her friend a little Peke called Hanny. The owner had become bored of them and we became involved when they literally were going to be thrown onto the streets.

Thanks to our network of rescuers they were taken under our wing , vet checked and because of the state we found them in they even went to the doggy groomers to remove the knots and dirt.

Underneath the knots and neglected fur were two gorgeous princesses.

Both wonderful dogs, house trained, great with humans and other dogs even cats. Pasha has been through so very much in her life yet she holds no malice towards humans.

Donatela - 2 year old Fem Doberman for adoption, fostered Staffs

Donatela - 2 year old Fem Doberman for adoption, fostered Staffs

Donatela, what a beautiful and wonderful young lady. Her start in life was not so wonderful, abandoned to the streets and left to fend for herself once she lost her puppyness. This young dog through sheer starvation developed a skin condition that left her with sores all over her body.

She is not a dominant dog and so would have had little choice but to walk away from any scraps of food as the more aggressive and larger dogs than she was then, would have beat her (literally to it)

Thankfully she was rescued by an amazing lady over there in the Balkans and she was lovingly brought back to full health and as you can see in the photo has developed into a stunning looking dog.

The rescuer who fostered her prior to our charity bringing her to the UK to allow another dog to be rescued, she had cats and a small dog that Donatella got along equally well with.

She adores human company but because she is a lanky girl as most Dobermans are, we would recommend a household that experienced with the Doberman breed and with older taller children in the household.

ADOPTED - Evie, stunning 2 year old Croatian Shepherd cross female

Evie, stunning 2 year old Croatian Shepherd cross female

Evie, this absolutely stunning young dog with jet black fur and beautiful amber eyes was rescued from horrific cruelty, abuse and starvation. You would not realise this when you look at her now, a very happy and relaxes dog, getting along well with other dogs and adores human company.

She is currently being fostered in Northampton , this is what her foster mum has to say about her
“She has no food aggression and is fine with people and children and other dogs. We let her off the lead today for the first time and her recall was really good. She travels well in the car, is very clean in the house and in general is a delight to foster”

This young dog really needs her very own forever home. The photos of her here really do not do her justice, a beautiful lovely young girl inside and out.

Beautiful Dolly - 2 year old Fem Peke cross looking for a home

Beautiful Dolly - 2 year old Fem Peke cross looking for a home

This is Dolly, she was rescued by a wonderful animal rescuer who spotted her and Molly( Dollys daughter) by the side of a road where they had been cruelly abandoned. Bites from other dogs were found around Dolly's throat where this brave sweet little mummy had been trying to protecting her daughter. It is not known if she had other pups but only Molly was found by her side.

The rescuer took the both straight to the vets where they were both checked and treated and given all they needed.

They have both been with the rescuer in her home where she has been fostering both of these lovely dogs.

As you can see these are wonderful girls, both mother and daughter are now looking for homes.

They are great with other dogs and as you can see get along fine with cats and just adore human companionship.

If you can offer the beautiful Dolly a forever home please contact our charity as soon as possible.

Dolly and Molly will be fostered in Staffordshire in hopes that there dreams can come true and each will find their own perfect family.

BEBA - 2.5 years old female crossbreed - on death row in Croatia

Hi, my name is Beba (Baby)

I am a full grown girl, around 2.5 years young.

My story isn't a happy one. I was picked up as a puppy by this nice family, gave me food and shelter and had loved me for a while. I was as happy as I could be, loved to run aroud backyard and enjoyed life. As I grew bigger, they had less and less time to play with me and pet me, they never took me on a walk. I didn't mind that, I had a big backyard to run, jump and play.

One day my familly decided that is best for me to be on a chain. I've accepted that, "they love me"," they know what is best for me" I was repeating to myself that over and over. I couldn't be mad at them, becouse I loved them so much. One day I saw them pack couple of bags and running all over the yard and the house. I couldn't understand what was going on, then I felt some cold water covering my paws. The air smelled different, I looked around, and I could feel something is coming. My familly ran away, I was crying my heart out for them, but no one turned around to look at me or to let me off the chain. The water was raising fast, I was pacing around my 4 foot chain, but I couldn't take it off. Somehow I've managed to climb on my dog house and looked around. Everywhere I looked, there was water and it was getting higher by the minute.

I spent the night holding my head up just trying to breathe. By the sunrise I've almost given up, took my last breath and closed my eyes. "That's it for me, goodbye world, I had I good run..." In that moment I heard some strange noise close to my yard and the noise was getting closer and closer. I barked a couple of times and then I saw a big hand taking the chain, and released me from my collar. He pulled me onto the boat, covered me with something warm and took me to safety. I was transfered to shelter who took care for me and 50 other poor souls like me. Every day I watch them go home one by one, happily reunited with their families, I was so happy for them, but I was wondering every night where my family is, where is my happy ending?

It has been 3 months since the flood. No one called, no one asked. Now I know, they deserted me for good. There is still so much loving in my heart, I want to share, I can give someone so much joy, I know, all people around me know, I hear them say what a good girl I am. I don't mind other dogs, I am well behaved on a leash, I love to have someone's hand on me, I don't mind strangers. Can you spare just a small corner of your heart? I assure you I will love you with all of mine. I have been cat tested and I am okay with them too.

ANABELL - 2 year old female Kuvasz/Labrador cross - on death row in Croatia

My name is Annabell, I am a girl, 2 years old and a Kuvasz/Labrador mix.

I would like to tell you my story:
I was born in winter 2011. The last of my litter. From the first minute I was a fighter, my first family wrote me off from the first minute in this world. "She' wont survive 'till morning." I heard them say. I gave my best to fight off my brothers and sisters to get some precious milk from mom. I did survive that night, and the night after and I grew enough to find a family of my own. My brothers and sisters have found home in no time, once again, I was written off.

One day I saw a man walking by my yard so I've called him and gave him a saddest look ever, he looked down on me, put a hand on my head and said "You're coming home with me." I was so happy. I jumped around him, wanted to give him as many kisses and hugs. I thought: "In your face! I'm a survivor, I can do anything, I found my owner!" I was smiling all the way to my new home, licking his hand all the way. He introduced me to his family and then took me to backyard. Backyard was beautiful, as big as the world itself. I already imagined how fast and how far will I run all day long, playing with myself, my family. The sound of a chain woke me up from that daydream. He put me on a 6 foot chain that was wrapped around a big pole that held old shack roof from falling down. The chain was around me 24/7, a couple of times I pulled the chain, just to get to the water and the roof collapsed on me. My whole body was hurting as I laid there, licking my wounds. A trip to the vet was out of the question, that was expensive. I survived once again. Weeks, months a year went by and I never felt free.

One day my family ran out of the house, my owner came and took the chain off my neck. "Finally! I am free!"I ran down the backyard, chasing my tail, running so fast I saw only blurred images on my side and then... I felt water on my paws, I was so happy to finally be free I hadn't noticed that something big was going on. I ran to the front yard to warn my family, but they were already gone. The water was rising minute after minute, I was pacing up and about the yard, happy to be finally free but concerned about the water. I could hear some dogs barking, cows mooing, cats meowing. Everyone called for help, but there wasn't any. Everyone that could help us had left the village. The night was falling and I managed to climb onto an old well roof, which was the highest point in my yard I could get on. And waited...and waited ... and waited. All through the night! I was up to my neck in cold, filthy water, I thought that would be the way I go. I was brave, after all, I was a survivor, I had beaten the darkness so many times. If I go I will go with my head held high, I thought.

That morning the sound of a boat and people yelling out some random names woke me up. I barked as I had never before and luckily someone did hear me call. They put me on a boat, gave me water and some food and took me to a shelter where I had a couple of squares I could call my own. I must admit, it was so strange to me to have so many hands petting me. To give me a walks (such a great thing), to give me love I never knew. I survived once again. I am so proud of myself!

But, lately I feel lonely. Almost all of my friends from the floods had returned to their owner or found a new home. Once Again, I feel like the last puppy in the litter. I won't brag. I've heard from volunteers that I am a good girl, I walk nicely on the leash, I am well behaved among strangers, that I get along with other dogs.

Can you help me find a home? Someplace to call my own? A place where I can really feel love, where I can run free which I crave so much, with people I can love back, maybe play with and be happy .... finally. I've waited for so long, don't let my story be in vain. Give me a chance to call myself "survivor" once again!

Anabell.

REGINA - 2 year old female German Shepherd - on death row in Croatia

Meet Regina - the smiling German Shepherd

Regina was found wandering the streets of Croatia. We presume that she might have had an owner at some stage as she is a pedigree. We can only assume that she maybe got too large and was thrown out in the streets. This happens all too often. Nevertheless, Regina has not lost her love for people and we call her the "smiler", because that is what she does when she sees us. Regina is desperate for her forever home, preferably somebody who has experience with large breeds, who will give her the love and attention she needs and deserves. Despite her past, Regina gets on well with children and other dogs.

Stray and abandoned dogs in Croatia are often brutally treated and abused.  A life on the streets is a miserable existence with the danger of starvation, being run down by cars (frequently deliberately), violence at the hands of people or other dogs and and suffering due to disease and lack of treatment but the dog who is picked up and taken to the pound has only 60 days and then by Croatian law they must be killed.

However, we are fortunate enough in this kill shelter to have a resident vet who is also the manager as part of our network of animal rescuers.  He tries to get the dogs adopted and extends their time to do so but if the local city hall should order him to kill those who have reached their 60 days in the pound the law can't be resisted. This law is not the only danger of death in this pound, overcrowding is sometimes the cause of death and injury due to fights.

The smile

The vet does his best with the limited resources available, local volunteers are recruited to come and walk the dogs on a Saturday afternoon. This is the only time of the week the dogs can leave the pens and there can be long periods when the walks are not possible and due to the ratio of dogs to volunteers some will not get exercised at all.

These dogs have basic care but they suffer in the pound from stress, boredom, fear and sadness. They are all desperate to get out of their prison and be loved and part of a family.

LOLA - 5 year old female crossbreed - in foster in Croatia

Lola - left and neglected

Lola is the kind of dog that everybody wants, a type of dog that everybody asks for a gift to somebody or for adoption. Yes, we do now, unfortunately.

Despite her being so small, white and fluffy, her owner moved away and gave the dog to her neighbour, who kept the dog exclusively in the backyard, which is no life for this kind of dog, as you can see by the condition in which she was found.

Dear neighbours, people with a kind heart but a difficult financial state, took in the dog and asked for our help.

Her teeth are full of tartar, which makes it impossible for her to eat, that's why she's skin and bones, although you cannot really see it because of the fur. But once you pet her, you get the creeps. Her fur is also in a bad state, tangled and she has wounds all over her skin.

Lola is currently in a temporary home, she eats when she can, but she only eats chicken, nothing else is possible for her to chew.

Mia - Adorable 8 year old Staffy, lovely lass just wanting a loving home she can call her own. Wonderful character

This is Mia (right) with his companion Chico (left)

Both of these dogs were taken under our charity wing otherwise they were to end up on the dog fighting magnet site Gumtree as the then owner though adored both of these dogs, due to personal circumstances could no longer no keep them and so did not know what else to do. Thankfully someone notified AAFA and we stepped in and took these dogs under our wing.

Mia - Staffy Female 8 years of age,  lost one eye due to dry eye when she was a pup but manages perfectly well.
She is a very calm and gentle dog, takes everything in her stride.  She adores to get out on walks and meet new people and other dogs.

Mia is:
Great with humans
Great with other dogs
House Trained
Walks very well on the lead
Microchipped
Fully vaccinated
Dewormed
Deflead
Sterilised

Preferably we are hoping to find a wonderful home where both could be adopted to, but are willing to separate if this gives them a better chance of a forever home.

Chico - Male  (White Staffy) is 7 years of age though very much thinks he is still a youngster..He is fine with other dogs, infacts just wants to run around and play with them. When he first sees/meets them will bark and bark, but this is only because he wants to play. Really is a softy, and such a wonderful lad

Chico is:
Great with humans
Great with other dogs
House Trained
Walks very well on the lead
Microchipped
Fully vaccinated
Dewormed
Deflead
Neutered

If you could give a home to both of these wonderful dogs so they do not have to be split up that would be fantastic, but if it gives each a better chance of finding a forever home we are willing to split them up.
